What are the construction of common walls

Common walls especially on apartments are usually the culprit in noise distribution.  Thus, if your neighbor is loud or there are things in them that may cause irritating noise, then you may be affected.  In this case, you will need to know how the construction of common walls is done before you move in to an apartment where common walls separate you from your neighbor.

On the other hand, inside your home, common walls between rooms will have the same effect.

If you have a baby in your room and the other room would have your toddler playing and running amuck, then the noise will affect the little one and you surely do not want it.

By using acoustic screens and other sound proofing materials, you may not need to change the construction of common walls but rather just apply sound proofing materials to help manage the annoying sounds.

As mentioned, there are portable acoustic screens; this will not damage any part of your house.  You can use a Velcro to attach them and if you do not need the acoustic screen anymore, you can always detach them.

Again, if you decide during the construction phase that you will need to sound proof a room, include them in the design.  This is the most effective and less expensive way to decide on the construction of common walls.
